Carpet Cleaners – Different Types of Vacuum Cleaners

The most common and effective way to routinely clean your carpet from dry contaminates is by using vacuum carpet cleaners.  There are several types of vacuums out there to choose from.  The major categories of vacuum cleaners include canister, central systems, handheld, stick, robotic, and upright vacuums.  The upright vacuum is the most popular type of vacuum on the market.  Within the upright vacuum category are several ways that the vacuum mechanism works.  Vacuum cleaners work on the basis of an air pump that creates a difference in air pressure so a vacuum lifts the dust and dirt off the carpet. Traditional vacuums have a rolling brush or beater bar that helps push the debris from the floor into the vacuum to be sucked into either a bag or a canister that can be emptied.  Vacuum models that rely solely on suction are advertised as using cyclone technology, or spinning air, to increase suction.  The tradition carpet cleaners with beater bars or brushes are usually somewhat adjustable so the bar or brush can be lifted on some floor surfaces and lowered on others.  Lifting the beater bar or brush can keep your vacuum cleaner from damaging hardwood floors or certain types of carpets or area rugs. For many types of carpets, the safest way to vacuum is to use carpet cleaners based solely on suction.  Vacuuming carpets often helps remove abrasive debris and grit that can wear down the carpet from the inside out.  Floors should be kept as free as possible from these contaminates.  Many people have rugs or floor mats just outside and just inside the exterior doors for people to wipe their feet when entering.  This prevents much of the dirt and pollen from being tracked in.  Dusting furniture often also keeps down the amounts of dust that gather inside the carpet. When you have spills or accidents, it is best to deal with them right away.  Blotting up the spill with an absorbent cloth is best.  Scrubbing may damage your carpet or rug.  In addition to frequent vacuuming, carpets should be deep cleaned about once a year to remove allergens and irritants that have become embedded in the carpet pile or loops.  Professional carpet cleaners can thoroughly clean your carpets without leaving too much moisture in the weave of the carpet.  Carpets that are not dried quickly enough are susceptible to mold growth.  When moving into a new house, it is important to have the carpets professionally cleaned because you do not know what allergens are there from the previous owners.
