Oriental Rug Cleaners NYC – Preparing for a Move

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

Packing up your life in boxes in preparations for a move is nerve-wracking enough; you don’t want to spend sleepless nights worrying about the state of your precious Persian rug in storage. Oriental rug cleaners NYC like Oriental Rug Care NY can professionally clean and revitalize your rug before or after a big move, but the packing and transporting is up to you. Rugs should preferably be cleaned by the experts prior to a move, that way you know you aren’t bringing dust mites, carpet beetles, pet dander, and other nastiest things into your new home. A fabric-safe moth spray can be used when in storage, but check to make sure it’s absolutely safe for tapestry rugs.

Although Oriental rug cleaners NYC will get your rug in prime shape, you and the movers will be responsible from here on out. Make sure to roll the rug carefully for any move. Folding it only causes creasing and unnecessary wrinkling. The worst scenario is that the rug will become warped well beyond repair. Roll them tight enough so that the roll will hold but keep the roll loose enough to avoid creasing. Only roll the rug while it’s on a flat, clean surface and pile-side up. Tie the Persian rug loosely with a string, once again taking care to avoid creasing.

Rug Cleaning NY

Saturday, February 26th, 2005

Rugs that aren’t well-maintained will eventually lose their distinct color. It’s only a matter of time when that rug of yours will be covered by soil and grime. What can make the situation even more difficult is that the dirt and grime can soak deep through the rug fibers. In situations like this, we all wish that we had a self-cleaning rug. For this and other similar situations, we will need to depend on companies that offer professional rug cleaning services.

Rug problems like spills, pet wastes and other damages happen all the time. Many rugs have a stain-resistant treatment that does not allow the spill to be absorbed into the rug right away, giving you a few minutes to start taking action. However, this doesn’t mean that you can just leave it there and do nothing about it. Your rug should be cleaned at least twice a week. Your precious rugs need to be cleaned the proper way, so you should at least get an idea of how to do it right. This is why you will need the services of professional cleaners. Rug should be cleaned frequently and properly.

If you own specific types of rugs, such as handmade Persian and Oriental rugs, antique rugs, as well as modern rugs, you’ll also need expert help. Always keep in mind that the more expensive a rug, the more delicate it is. And of course, the more fragile the rug, the more you should think of hiring a professional rug cleaner to handle your cleaning problems. Many certified rug cleaners provide home service for rugs that are too big or too heavy to take into their shops. At Oriental Rug Care NY, we will be happy to take care of your rugs, and it doesn’t matter whether they’re Persian, Oriental, or the ordinary ones.

Our company has been in the business for 37 years. The specialized rug cleaners of Oriental Rug Care NY are trained extensively to cleanse those grime and dirt out of your carpets and rugs. Rug Cleaning

Thursday, February 26th, 2004

There are many kinds of rugs, from luxurious Persians and Orientals to fun and fanciful flokati and children’s rugs. They can be used to warm up any room such as living room areas, hallways and bedrooms. There are a wide variety of materials, designs and colors available along with seemingly endless options for rugs in any home. But care for these pieces often require regular rug cleaning.

Your fine rug collects as much dirt and grime as your regular carpeting. However, it is totally understandable if you won’t give them frequent vacuuming. After all, these are very expensive and may also be considered as fragile pieces. But when can you tell that your rug needs cleaning?

To determine how dirty a rug is, try one of these methods:

1. Pick up a corner of the rug and while holding it, kick the back of the rug sharply. If you see a cloud of
dirt flying out of the pile, the rug is dirty and needs cleaning. NOTE: some dust and wool fibers are
normal!
2. Kneel down on the rug and rub the pile forcefully with your hand in a short sweep for 5 to 10 seconds.
Observe your fingers and palm if they are dirty, then the rug needs cleaning.
3. With the pile facing up, fold part of the rug back upon itself so that the pile opens along a line of
knots. Look down into the base of the pile at the foundation of the rug. If the warp and woven fabric
look dirty, this is proof of the presence of dirt deep in the pile, in an area (or areas) that a home
vacuum cleaner cannot reach it. Clearly, the rug needs to be cleaned.

There is absolutely no harm if you clean your rugs yourself. However, some pieces are so fragile that the only way to properly maintain them is to feed them with proper care and handling. There are many methods to professional rug cleaning and here at Oriental Rug Care NY, you can be assured that your priced rugs are in capable hands.
