How often should I have my oriental rugs cleaned? For a rug under
normal use, the industry guideline is not to wait any longer than two years in
between professional cleaning. Entry rugs that get high traffic, or rugs that
are in high traffic areas with a lot of activity from small children or pets,
can be cleaned annually because it's healthier for them to not have a lot of
contaminates in the rugs. If you have a really good vacuuming routine, you can
extend the length of time before it's ready to clean the rug about a year.
Should I wait until my rug or carpet shows
soiling before I have cleaned? All residential carpet should be
professionally cleaned a minimum of every 12 to 18 months. Allowing dry soils to
build up in carpet pile scars pile fiber allowing it to take on a dull, dirty
hue. This permanent fiber damage will give the impression of soiling even after
carpet cleaning.
How safe are your cleaning and protection methods? We use only the
safest, most effective technology to assure not only your satisfaction, but your
safety as well. We do not use any harsh chemicals nor will we leave any irritant
residues.
How soon will I be able to walk on my carpet again? Keep pets,
children and regular traffic off the carpet for a period of six hours. Adults
may use the carpet lightly immediately after cleaning by wearing socks or house
slippers... Some carpets may still feel slightly damp for up to 18 hours
depending on the carpet fiber type and soiling condition. This is normal and
will not cause any problems.
Can you get the pet odor our of my carpet or
rug? Pet odor is a very common problem that could be much more complex
than on first impression. Pet urine can easily soak through the backing of the
carpet into the padding underneath. In more severe cases the urine can penetrate
into the sub-floor beneath the padding. This creates a problem that is
multi-layered.
The urine also provides for the growth of bacteria. This in turn contributes to
a worsening of the odor problem and can contribute to permanent color loss of
the carpet fiber. To eliminate this problem, the urine must be removed or
neutralized from each of the layers affected. If the contamination is limited to
only the face yarn of the carpet then the cleaning itself may effectively remove
the odor. In more severe cases a urine neutralizer may be applied.
In the most severe cases, replacement of the carpet padding, treatment of the
under-side of the carpet and the sub-floor may be required. We guarantee complete removal of the odor.
My carpet has bleached or faded spots, can you
correct that? If there is color loss in the carpet, it may be able to
be spot dyed, or we can do a carpet repair for you by replacing that area of
carpet with another piece from our stock.
What does "cleaning to the standards" mean?
In 1992, representatives from the carpet manufacturing industry, the carpet
cleaning industry, and the federal government set a common set of standards for
the carpet cleaning industry. These standards are now referred to as the Soo1-92
standards. It was agreed that each of these cleaning processes should include
these common steps.
Pre-Vacuum
Pre-treat spots, stains and heavily soiled areas
Hot Water Extraction
A thorough rinse
Furniture Moving
Complete Drying within 24 hours
Cleaning your carpet in accordance to these industry standards will help assure
that you'll get a quality cleaning job.
